England & Scotland Trip

My Bubinga Veneer Coffee Table.

What Happening

Summer's Here:  It's hard to believe, but Jillian's a High School senior already.  She's got lot's of stuff going on this summer with a scattering of work thrown in.

Sabbatical Trip to the UK:  At my job, we are lucky enough to get an 8 week sabbatical for every 7 years of service.  I finally took my first last summer.  We did one big family trip (18 days) to England and Scotland.  It was a great time.  We stayed in small hotels and B&B's the entire trip.  And, we stayed in a Borthwick Castle in Scotland.  We did not get to see the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots who is supposed to haunt the castle.

The Goats:  With the drop from 4H, we have downsized the goat herd to just 4:  Our original 3 "Lap-Goats" Shire, Shamrock and Speedy and one of Shamrocks granddaughters (Woopsie).  They are definitely spoiled rotten.  We aren't breeding so no new babies.

The Shop:  I had a great experience during my sabbatical last summer.  I was able to take a one week woodworking course taught by David Marks.  I learned a heck of lot and had a great time.  Our project was the Bubinga Veneer & Maple coffee table that David made on this episode of Wood Works (DIY Channel).  You can buy the plans for the table directly from David's Website.
